What is white toothed cowry?

The White Toothed Cowry (Ovatipsa species) is a species of marine snail in the family of Cypraeidae, commonly found in the Indo-Pacific region. Their shells are small and round, with a bright white color and a distinctive row of fine teeth along the outer edge of their shells. They typically grow to be around 3 - 4cm in length.

White Toothed Cowries are known to be predatory sea snails, feeding on a variety of other invertebrates such as starfish, bivalves, and other gastropods. They can be found in shallow waters amongst coral reefs and rocky areas, typically at depths between 5 to 25 meters.

In some cultures, the shells of White Toothed Cowries have been used as currency or as decorative objects. They are also popular among shell collectors due to their unique appearance and rarity. However, over-harvesting for these purposes has led to a decline in their populations in some areas.
